Enter the world of Jolie Hunter and Ashton Dane. Ashton, a professional hockey player, left a trail of remarkable achievements in his hometown while pursuing his dreams, with Jolie being a significant part of that tapestry. Jolie, forbidden as Ashton's best friend's younger sister, became the focus of a promise made thirteen years ago - a promise that proves more challenging than expected. Freshly divorced and ensnared by blackmail, Ashton finds himself back at his parents' home. After an injury, he is confined for two weeks on his parents' ranch, and those two weeks could change everything. Jolie, transformed into a confident woman with a captivating laugh and sassy attitude, is omnipresent. Can Ashton resist her allure for just two weeks?

Meet Jolie, or Joey, a veterinarian returning to town, is seeking solace from the strains of her career. Encouraged by her brother Colton, she takes refuge at the Dane's ranch while contemplating her next steps. Ashton, her childhood crush, resurfaces, reigniting feelings from their past. Beyond physical attraction, their love runs deep. Yet, a secret Ashton harbors threatens their newfound connection.

Jolie emerges as a formidable and resilient woman, finding love and contentment with Ashton after a tumultuous past relationship. Their communication transcends words, creating a seamless connection. Ashton, a true sweetheart, places Jolie at the forefront, offering unwavering support.

Ashton was so sweet with Jolie. That man, in intimate moments, switched to a possessive lover; let me tell you, the spice was very hot. A barn scene? A hockey stick roleplay? Yes, please! I loved everything. Joyce wasn't afraid to ask for things, she was very naughty. She was very direct in all aspects of her life, with intimate moments being no exception. They were perfect in every aspect, including during intimate moments. She also had a dirty mind, and together, those moments were amazing.

Moreover, the book delves into essential themes, notably mental health, shedding light on the challenges faced in healthcare professions. Beyond the allure of romance and spice, the book delivers a poignant message. While acknowledging the charm of love and passion, it skillfully addresses critical topics often overlooked. Mental health, a prevalent concern in healthcare, is thoughtfully explored. Sienna Judd deserves commendation for bringing this crucial subject to the forefront. As someone immersed in the healthcare field, I resonate deeply with the importance of setting boundaries and prioritizing mental well-being.

Jolie's journey, supported by a robust system in the book, underscores the significance of seeking help and grounding oneself, even through therapy. The narrative serves as a gentle reminder to care for our mental health without shame, especially in professions where daily challenges can be overwhelming.

I loved Dash in the previous book, but Ashton now hold a special place in my heart. He dealt with some things that weren't his responsibility, and that cost him so much; it almost cost him the chance to be with the love of his life, Joey. Love is not easy, and it’s during difficult times that we need to be there for our partner. As said in the book: “Ashton builds me up. His support is like the best foundation. Everyone needs an Ashton.”

I highly recommend this book and series. If you haven’t read a book from Sienna, I highly recommend trying one. I discovered her and have been part of her ARC team, and each book keeps getting better. She is one of the authors I discovered this year, and I can’t wait to read more of her future work. Thanks to Sienna and Grays Promo for the advanced readers copy. Set the date: January 9. If you are a lover of small-town romances, I highly recommend reading the Starlight Canyon series.
