The story revolves around Cage, the Reynolds' older brother, and Presley Duncan, whose teenage connection withstands the trials of time and distance.

Their paths diverge when Presley heads to Harvard for law school, resulting in a heartbreaking separation. In the aftermath, Cage becomes a single dad, balancing parenthood and a career as the city vet. Presley's return to Cottonwood Cove, amid personal turmoil, reignites their dormant feelings, paving the way for a compelling tale of love and resilience.

The narrative skillfully weaves together the complexities of Presley's past, her pursuit of success, and strains in her family relationships. Cage, a devoted single father, discovers newfound purpose and happiness with Presley's return, prompting a reassessment of their lives.

The book's charm lies in its humor, from the entertaining siblings' banter to the delightful presence of Maxine the pig and Bob Picklepants the dog. A notable chapter featuring Dylan and Wolf adds a hilarious touch. I share a soft spot for Dylan, and "Only Mine" stands out as my favorite book in the Honey Mountain Series.

Gracie, Cage's daughter, adds a heartwarming touch, forming a unique bond with Presley through their shared love for horses.

Presley's evolution from a life dominated by work to rediscovering joy post-divorce is depicted with depth and authenticity. Cage, once a single dad, experiences a transformative journey with Presley, resulting in a profound realization about the true essence of living. At times, we become fixated on work or other obligations, overlooking more crucial aspects of life. The crucial lesson Presley and Cage learn upon her return to New York is the importance of pursuing happiness.

The romance stands out, showcasing Cage's genuine efforts and the added sizzle of his occasionally filthy mouth.

The portrayal of family support within the small-town setting adds a comforting layer, a hallmark of small-town romances. "After the Storm" beautifully concludes the series, bringing Cage and Presley's love story to a satisfying and heartwarming resolution. Their second chance is skillfully navigated, creating an amazing pathway for the characters.

If you haven't read the series, I highly recommend adding it to your TBR. Can’t wait for Laura Pavlov’s new series, 'Magnolia Falls,' coming out in January 2024.
